Meet the Scribl team

November 12, 2024

Our team recently sat down to play a few rounds of Scribl together. Join us and get to know the people behind the scenes!

I feel supported when...

Matthew Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

"That is me on a walk with my family. I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old, and they don't love to go on walks surprisingly. Anytime that it's the end of the day, and it's nice out, and I say, 'Hey, who wants to go for a walk?' usually I get a no. But every once in a while I get a yes, and I feel supported. Walking with your kids, talking with them, and being present — you learn a lot about them in those environments. I feel supported when we get to do that as a family."

Matt has 14 years of experience working in the emotional wellbeing space. He's raised millions of dollars, built an internationally acclaimed program, and executed strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 companies.

Abbie Knapton, Customer Experience Lead

"This represents my neighbors who watch my kids for me while I'm at work. Because of the name of our street, we call our babies the 'wildflower babies.' It's such an awesome setup we've got, and I feel very supported by my community."

Abbie brings a wealth of experience in community building to her role at Scribl — from organizing in the recovery space, to training human service workers, to facilitating corporate team building events. Leading with a collaborative and people-first spirit, Abbie partners with individuals and teams to help them thrive, fostering meaningful connections and delivering empathetic, tailored support every step of the way.

Eric Rice, Chief Creative Officer

“I feel supported when the people in my life give me the time and space to do things on my own and be creative, and get what I need to get done, done. Thankfully a lot of the people in my life understand this, and it makes me feel appreciated.”

With over a decade of experience in creative direction, Eric uses art and design in innovative ways to bring people together and create new avenues for connection. His approach blends creativity and strategy to craft experiences that engage and inspire people. Over the years, Eric has shaped everything from community spaces and physical products to digital platforms.

An adventure I've been on recently is...

Alli Leson, Art Director

"I'm just starting a gardening adventure. I just got a raised bed, and I have some seedlings going, so I'm slightly intimidated but also excited! We have some sugar snap pea seedlings started, we have mint already going, and I have some seeds hanging out that I need to go through. We don't get a ton of sun so I'm not sure how it's going to go, but I'm excited to try it."

Alli brings over a decade of experience in art direction, design, and illustration, along with a lifetime of practice as an artist. In her work, she often combines simplicity with unexpected textures and details, creating elegant, striking visuals that invite viewers to see the world in new and hopeful ways.

Jeffrey Sparr, Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Founder

"An adventure I've been on recently is driving my youngest son 24 hours with my wife down to Florida for his collegiate summer baseball league. That was nothing short of an odyssey. As my wife drove, I did a combination of work, napping, and thinking, and my son had his headset on for almost 24 hours. We had some good family bonding."

Jeff has more than 25 years of experience creating awareness for mental health and the transformative power of creativity. In addition to serving as our Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Founder, he is an accomplished artist and speaker. His story has resonated across numerous stages and media outlets — from right here in Rhode Island (home to Scribl HQ!) to audiences around the world.

Christina Strachoff, Design and Brand Lead

"I recently had a friend from college, who now lives across the country, stay with me for a weekend. While he was visiting, we spent some time at our old campus. He hadn't been back in years, and even though I live close by I don't spend intentional time there often. It was sweet to visit some of our favorite spots from our time at school and reminisce together."

Christina brings years of experience designing for social impact institutions. She is passionate about the power of authenticity, humanity, and beauty to help organizations connect with their audiences. Christina is also a fine artist, working in drawing and painting.

Something I can talk about for hours is...

Jonathan Jacobs, Senior Director, Operations & Strategy

“This, for the youngsters in the crowd, is a '70s television set. Those things at the top are antennae, and were called ‘rabbit ears’. The little circular thing next to them was another kind of antenna. I have an uncanny ability to recall and store minutia about many shows from that decade, probably because I sat in front of the TV a lot as a little kid.”

JJ has extensive experience in corporate philanthropy, social impact entrepreneurship, program management, and business strategy. He managed philanthropy at a global company for nearly a decade, and runs a non-profit that provides free music resources to kids.

Kimberly DiOrio-Rooney, Curriculum Director

"I could talk about baking for hours — hours and hours and hours. I love baking all the things, so I could talk about all the things I've ever baked in my whole life. Right now I'm really into decorating cakes, and finding different ways to flavor cakes. I'm going to start getting into pie, too."

While Kim loves to share her baking adventures, there's one secret she keeps close: "I make a mean sugar cookie. I could talk about baking for hours, except not my cookie recipe."

Kim is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, bringing extensive experience working with individuals, facilitating groups, developing curriculum, and training professionals in expressive arts programming.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We look forward to creating more connections that matter together!
